An Evening of Stars 2025: celebrating those who light our way

22 January 2026|JRS Canada

On December 6, 2025, we held our annual event called the “Evening of Stars”. During this celebration, we took the time to thank all our volunteers and partners, whom we consider to be the “stars” of our mission at JRS Canada.

The evening began with a welcome speech by the director of JRS Canada, Norbert Piché, who recounted his own experience volunteering for Mme Plamondon, an elderly woman. This story, which dates back more than 40 years, had a profound impact on him during his university years and led to a friendship between them. It was a way to illustrate the friendships we have built with our volonteers.

After some light refreshments, a video of Father Arturo Sosa, SJ, was presented on the occasion of JRS’s 45th anniversary.

Here is a link to the video for those who were not present:

This was followed by a slideshow highlighting the ten years of service of our Country Director, Norbert Piché.

Later in the evening, Minh Lê, a refugee from Vietnam, shared her touching testimony, which inspired the audience.

It was a simple but memorable evening to end the year 2025. Participants were able to connect with each other and feel welcome. To conclude, JRS Canada certificates were presented to volunteers.

JRS Canada would like to thank everyone who makes our mission possible. Without your help, we would not be able to support refugees and forcibly displaced persons. We hope to see you again next year!
