Stand with Refugees
Where We Work
Stand with refugees
THEY ARE MORE THAN 70 MILLION IN THE WORLD.
They have been driven from their homes by
Pope Francis has called on the world to stand with refugees
In a spirit of compassion, let us embrace all those fleeing from war and hunger,
or forced by discrimination, persecution, poverty and environmental degradation
to leave their homelands.
In 2018 JRS served almost 680,000 people.
We are determined to have an even greater impact in the next five years by focusing on four priority areas.
4 million refugee children are out of school.
To bridge this gap in access to education, JRS runs 217 education centres for refugees around the world. We also provide teacher training and postsecondary education. When we educate refugees we stand with them on a path that leads to a hopeful future.
The ability to work and earn a living is one of the most effective ways for refugees to rebuild their lives.
JRS livelihoods programmes help refugees to thrive and find purpose in their new community. Standing with refugees means helping them to stand on their own feet.
JRS recognises injustice and conflict as key causes of forced displacement.
We work for reconciliation among the refugees we serve, and between refugees and host communities.
JRS promotes justice for refugees by supporting them to speak out for their rights.
We work with partners, such as other faith-based organisations, to expand protection spaces for refugees.
JRS is answering Pope Francis's call, so that more refugees can heal, learn, and determine their own future.
Stand with Us. Stand with Kassem. Stand with Refugees.
